We work to strengthen citizens in Malawi through citizen mobilization, awareness and empowerment so that they should participate in sustainable development activities and take part in the free and open civic space. Reinforcing citizen power is our clarion call, through community leadership transformation action.
We envisage an equitable wealth creation through community participation, transformation and justice of all citizens. Poverty is our enemy that can be eliminated through community solidarity and integrated livelihoods transformation action.
LITA is a collective voice of Malawians formally embodied and instituted as a non-profit making organization incorporated under the laws of Malawi. It was founded in 2018 with the aim of collaborating with various leaders -civil society, youth, religious, corporate and public leaders, etc- to institutionalize and entrench democratic pillars of transparency and accountability in Malawi. LITA was formed by Malawians, for Malawians, to engage with various leaders to foster a just and corrupt free society with trusted, more transparent and accountable transformative leadership. We aim at tackling grassroot poverty by empowering citizens to provide solutions to their own problems within their own immediate context. Our work is guided by the 17 pillars of the sustainable development goals which are domesticated into the Malawi’s blueprint dubbed “Malawi’s Agenda 2030.”
